Local storage for NG4500 upgrades and carrier-board builds

This M.2 2280 NVMe SSD provides local storage for operating systems, containers, AI models, datasets and application logs. It uses PCIe Gen3 x4, NVMe 1.3 and 3D TLC NAND, with capacity options from 256GB to 1TB.

NeoEdge NG4500 already includes a 256GB SSD. Choose this separately sold drive for additional storage, a replacement system drive or an NG4500-CB01 carrier-board build. The carrier board is sold without an SSD.

Allow space for the operating system, application updates and retained data. Capacity and endurance requirements depend on your workload and expected write volume. A separate SSD purchase does not specify a factory storage change for an NG4500 order; contact CamThink to arrange that configuration.

Check the slot and operating conditions

NG4500 and NG4500-CB01: use the four-lane M.2 Key M 2280 slot for a system drive. The second storage slot provides one PCIe lane for an additional drive, with lower throughput. Check which slot is available before ordering.
Other hosts: confirm M.2 2280 mechanical fit, PCIe NVMe support, a 3.3V supply and operating-system NVMe support. SATA-only M.2 slots are incompatible.
Temperature: the SSD operating range is 0°C to 70°C. Keep the drive within this range even if the host has a wider ambient temperature rating.

Follow the NG4500 SSD installation guide for access to the storage slots. Power off before installation and back up data before replacing a system drive; plan for operating-system and application migration.

Monitor drive health and write usage

SMART health reporting, dynamic and static wear leveling, NANDXtend ECC and over-provisioning support drive monitoring and NAND management. The rated write endurance is 160 TBW, 320 TBW or 640 TBW for the 256GB, 512GB and 1TB models respectively. Maintain backups of important data.

CamThink's published reference platform used an Intel i9-9900X, 32GB DDR4, an X299 chipset and Windows 10 x64, with CrystalDiskMark 8.0, AS SSD 2.0 and IOMeter. Results vary with the host, firmware, available PCIe lanes, workload and temperature.

Host Compatibility and Configuration

All three capacities support the NG4500 and NG4500-CB01 M.2 Key M 2280 storage interfaces. The four-lane slot is recommended for the system drive; the one-lane slot supports additional storage with lower throughput. Other hosts require M.2 2280 PCIe NVMe support, a 3.3V supply, sufficient clearance and operating-system NVMe support. SATA-only M.2 slots are incompatible.

NeoEdge NG4500 includes a 256GB SSD as standard. This listing supplies one separately ordered SSD in the selected capacity. NG4500-CB01 is a board-only product with storage sold separately. The SSD operating range is 0°C to 70°C, independently of the host's ambient rating.
