Multi-Sensor Expansion for NeoEyes NE301
The NE301 Multi-Sensor Expansion Development Kit is a ready-to-evaluate hardware kit for IoT developers, makers, and system integrators building sensor-rich edge applications.
It integrates a dedicated sensor expansion board with a wide range of sensing modules, including environmental sensing, motion detection, distance measurement, infrared thermal imaging, human presence detection, and audio input/output. Instead of sourcing individual modules and wiring them one by one, developers can start prototyping directly with a structured hardware platform designed around NE301.
With standard I2C, UART, SPI display, digital I/O, and audio interfaces, the kit helps developers quickly evaluate multi-sensor data acquisition, real-time visualization, and sensor-triggered edge AI workflows.
What You Can Build
Use the kit to prototype and evaluate applications such as:
- Smart building sensing
Combine PIR and 24GHz radar for motion and presence detection in lighting, HVAC, occupancy, or security scenarios.
- Thermal monitoring and predictive maintenance
Use the MLX90642 infrared thermal array to monitor temperature distribution on electrical cabinets, motors, circuit boards, or equipment surfaces.
- Robotics and distance sensing
Combine short-range ToF and 20m d-ToF sensors for obstacle detection, boundary sensing, passage counting, or compact robotics evaluation.
- Environmental monitoring
Use temperature, humidity, and ambient light sensing to prototype greenhouse, outdoor monitoring, or solar-powered sensing systems.
- Sensor fusion and edge AI evaluation
Connect sensor data with NE301 vision AI workflows for smarter local decision-making.
Open Drivers and Simple CLI Testing
The kit includes pre-integrated C driver examples for supported sensors, available in the project structure:
Custom/Hal/SensorExt/
Developers can start automatic sensor acquisition and display rendering with simple CLI commands:
sexp start
Start periodic multi-sensor acquisition.
sexp start ir
Start infrared thermal imaging measurement and pseudo-color display rendering.
The default acquisition cycle is designed for fast evaluation, with sensor readings and display updates available for demo and debugging workflows.
