The OV5640 5MP camera module is the selectable FPC imaging module for the NeoEyes NE101 platform. Choose a 60° or 120° field of view and a fixed-focus distance matched to close-range or standard-distance capture. It connects to the NE101 ESP32-S3 Development Board through a 24-pin, 0.5 mm-pitch FPC interface.

Important compatibility notice
This module is verified for the NeoEyes NE101 platform and its NE101 development board. It is not a universal plug-and-play camera for every ESP32 or ESP32-S3 board.
Third-party integration requires validation of the 24-pin FPC connector, pinout, power rails, clock, SCCB control, 8-bit DVP data interface, firmware driver, and mechanical fit. Do not connect the module to an unverified board based only on the processor family or connector pitch.
Product Overview
This OV5640 module is the standard FPC camera option for the NeoEyes NE101 Modular Sensing Camera. It uses a 1/4-inch, 5 MP CMOS sensor and supports image capture up to 2592 x 1944. Four fixed-focus lens configurations let you match the camera to the scene instead of relying on one lens for every installation.
Choose 120° FOV when the camera must cover more of the scene at a short mounting distance. The 8 cm version is intended for close-range subjects, while the 3 m version suits wider room, equipment, or outdoor scene capture. Choose 60° FOV when the subject occupies a smaller part of the scene. The 15 cm option is for close targets, and the 4 m option is for a narrower view at a longer working distance.

The two FOV choices and two focus ranges per FOV cover close-range and standard-distance capture. Selecting the lens before deployment reduces the need to reposition the camera or accept an unsuitable composition.
5 MP image capture
The OV5640 sensor supports a maximum resolution of 2592 x 1944 with JPEG and YUV output. Actual capture settings and image quality depend on the host board, firmware, lighting, and selected lens.
Direct integration with NE101
The module connects to the NE101 mainboard through the 24-pin FPC camera connector. The NE101 hardware connection guide documents the connector signals and the CAM_PWR control required by the platform.
Compact FPC camera format
The camera body measures 8.5 x 8.5 x 6.5 mm without the FPC. Its small form factor is suited to the NE101 enclosure and other custom housings that have been designed around the same connector, pinout, and optical position.
Register-based camera control
The host configures the sensor through SCCB and receives image data through an 8-bit DVP parallel interface. Third-party boards need a matching hardware interface and a compatible OV5640 driver.
