- OS04C10 camera with two lens options: 88° HFOV / 3 m or 137° HFOV / 2 m fixed focus.
- Four-AA-battery operation for intermittent capture; batteries supplied by the customer.
- Web UI setup, MQTT/MQTTS and Webhook reporting, and AI Tool Stack for custom model training.
Outdoor Capture and On-Device Detection
NE301 processes images on its STM32N6 platform and sends images and detection results to your application over Wi-Fi, LTE Cat.1, or Wi-Fi HaLow. Its Arm Cortex-M55 CPU and Neural-ART accelerator provide up to 600 GOPS (0.6 TOPS) for local inference.
The rain hood shelters the housing from rain and UV exposure and shades the camera window. The enclosed camera is rated IP67. LTE Cat.1 and HaLow antennas can be rotated and angled independently of the camera, allowing antenna orientation to be adjusted without changing the view.
Build Outdoor Vision Applications
Public Space Occupancy and Facility Use
Use NE301 to build occupancy monitoring for plazas, parks, seating areas, and shared outdoor facilities. Capture at intervals, detect people or classify scenes locally, and send results to your application to analyze usage over time. Custom models and application logic can extend this workflow to activity recognition and facility utilization analysis.
Vehicle Detection, Counting, and Parking Occupancy
Develop vehicle detection and counting applications for parking areas, site entrances, and access roads. Report vehicle detections to your platform to monitor parking occupancy or build traffic statistics. Set capture frequency and tracking logic for the counting task; periodic snapshots suit occupancy sampling, while passing-vehicle counts need captures frequent enough to follow movement.
Start with NE301’s verified detection and pose models, then adapt the model and application logic to your targets and installation.
Choose Your Connectivity, Lens, and Power
Connectivity
Onboard Wi-Fi with an onboard antenna is included in every configuration. LTE Cat.1 and Wi-Fi HaLow add the corresponding radio and adjustable antenna.
| Connection | Choose for / requirements |
|---|---|
| Wi-Fi | Sites already covered by a local Wi-Fi AP. Uses the onboard antenna and your existing Wi-Fi network. |
| LTE Cat.1 — Excluding North America | Deployments outside North America with compatible cellular coverage. Uses a regional cellular module and an adjustable LTE antenna. |
| LTE Cat.1 — North America | Deployments in North America with compatible cellular coverage. Uses a North American cellular module and an adjustable LTE antenna. |
| Wi-Fi HaLow — 868 MHz band | Commonly used for European HaLow networks. Requires a customer-provided HaLow gateway/AP configured for the matching regional band and channels. |
| Wi-Fi HaLow — 915 MHz band | Commonly used in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Requires a customer-provided HaLow gateway/AP configured for the matching regional band and channels. |
LTE Cat.1 has two regional hardware versions. Select by deployment country and carrier bands; both require a SIM, data plan, and APN settings.
One NE301 HaLow board supports both 868 MHz and 915 MHz. The band rows describe regional network use, not separate camera versions. Match the camera and gateway country/channel configuration to the deployment location; for other countries, confirm the supported regional configuration with CamThink.
HaLow uses the Morse Micro MM8108 for wider-area private networks without a cellular SIM or data plan.
Sensor expansion: the SensorExt firmware provided in v4.3.1 does not support HaLow networking; onboard Wi-Fi remains available.
Lens
| OS04C10 lens option | Choose for |
|---|---|
| 88° HFOV, 3 m fixed focus | Balanced coverage for general monitoring. |
| 137° HFOV, 2 m fixed focus | Wider coverage at shorter working distances. |

Select the lens for target size and mounting distance. Fixed-focus distance is not a guaranteed recognition range.
Power
Use 4 × AA alkaline batteries for intermittent capture; batteries are not included.
Use the NE301 battery calculator for Wi-Fi or LTE Cat.1 runtime estimates. It does not provide a HaLow-specific estimate. Actual runtime varies with use and site conditions.
USB-C or solar power requires a compatible back cover and sealed cable entry.
Evaluate Detection and Connect Your Application
Start a Proof of Concept
The camera ships with a YOLOv8 Nano model for 80 COCO object classes. Use the NE301 Quick Start to configure capture, inspect the live view, and test detection through the local Web UI.
For your own targets, CamThink AI Tool Stack supports annotation, model training, and NE301 package preparation on a separate PC or server. Upload the package through the camera’s Web UI to evaluate it on site.
For an implementation example, see the NE301 waste bin monitoring guide: train a model for bin status and report the results to Home Assistant through MQTT.
Integrate Data and Triggers
Send images, device data, and inference results to your MQTT/MQTTS broker or Webhook endpoint. The MQTT integration guide covers reporting and remote commands. Scheduled capture is configurable; sensor-triggered capture requires compatible sensors and firmware. The PIR integration guide provides a hardware and firmware example.
Develop Custom Firmware and Interfaces
The NE301 source repository and hardware connection guide cover firmware development, pinouts, and electrical connections. Check the board revision and driver support when adding sensors or changing interfaces.

Recommended Products — Sold Separately
-
Sensor development: choose the NE301 Sensor Expansion Kit for bundled sensors, or the Sensor Expansion Board for your own modules. The kit includes the board. Check the sensor integration guide for drivers; radar support is in development and some displays need adaptation. Outdoor use requires a custom enclosure.
Sensor kit firmware: you must upgrade the NE301 firmware yourself using
ne301_Main_WiFi_SensorExt_20260918(v4.3.1 release); follow the release’s upgrade instructions. An ST-LINK programmer ships with the kit, so no separate programmer purchase is needed for the upgrade. -
Lens evaluation: M12 lenses for NE301 let you compare framing or replace a lens. One selected lens is already installed; replacements require manual focusing.
-
Firmware debugging: use a CP2102 UART Adapter with an NE301 cable for 3.3 V TTL logs and CLI access, or an ST-Link V2-Compatible Programmer for SWD flashing and debugging. Neither is required for Web UI model uploads.
-
Mounting: NeoEyes brackets provide wall, pole, and other mounting options. Allow clearance for the rain hood and antenna movement.
For a solar-powered PoC, consider the 10W Solar Panel & 7Ah Battery Kit after confirming back-cover and cable-entry compatibility with CamThink.
